Al-Kimia, and the Golden Doll (precursor to The Promethean Doll)

Weeks of study in my little flat in Goatswood, and the cartouches and icons of the ancient book had begun to make sense. I had made some sort of friendships with Miss Carver and her boyfriend, a dashing military man, and a few others. Still, I sensed that same sort of restraint of mind and social capacity that said, "you shall never be accepted":  another instance I gathered of my reaching and pressing against the Brass Ceiling.
Still my studies garnered results! Words seemed to materialize, and certain pictures became stories, stories became theories.
The small collection of scrolls from the ancient lands discussed al-Kimia, alchemy! Could these words and this strange powder mentioned actually turn lead into gold? I had no problem finding the powder nor finding lead, and eagerly began my study and experimentation! "Id lead can become gold,,, then, I anything can become anything,,," I was elated for the first time in weeks!

Tuty's gold leaf fairie skin worked well for this!
I scratched my cheek as I worked and a horrid sensation, like scratching a dead scab, sunk my stomach into my shoes. Discovering transmutation, I would have thought, would fill me with exhuberance! All I felt now was a growing dullness and stiffness overcoming me! What a dense and arrogant doll I was!

I jumped up, grabbing my hat of course, as no decent lady of substance goes out in mid day without one,, and hurried to the pub where I knew I might catch the experienced Breezy Carver and her wise beau, the Colonel.

The Roebuck Tavern, get a meal, plan a secret act, thwart undead activities,, and cheap red wine!
"Miss Charisma! What has happened?"  Breezy rushed to my side. Wild and huffing and puffing, I began to explain to her my recent studies of the scrolls and books  from the ancient lands. She rushed me inside, away from the many ears and eyes of the town square. Who knows  what someone could do with this ability? The Colonel seemed concerned as well, and asked  how I managed this.
"Hubrith," I said, startled at my lisp.
"Ib de buk, de buk,, ohdo! by Wips ad Tungg! Here, dis is de buk,,,"
Breezy grabbed the book from my hands and I learned something I did not know; She has a skill of reading ancient writings! Her lips and tongue worked far better than mine, I only hoped it was in time.
It was not.
The Goldfinger  Gold Skin with Robot eyes and A&A Lillie hair make the transformation complete
I could hear, see, but not move. I could not feel anything either but as a doll, really, how much am i feeling, and how much am i assuming i feel?
"Well, we could prop her against the wall, makes a nice decoration,,"  One waitress said.
"Cor, we could sell her! Solid gold she is!" The bartender was mercenary, but quite correct.
It occurs to me, that a normal doll would have no issues at all with being gold, propped against a wall for display. Recent events had made me consider,, well,, something new... something that was against the very nature of things. Were my thoughts sacrosanct?  Was I insane? I contemplated at that moment how I very much wanted to experience what humans did, and not make these silly stupid mistakes of thought and deed that no human would ever make. Ohh, to be smart, and wise, and feel things and do things as those with squishy internals, and not clockwork...

Breezy wiped me over and over with this rag, doused with a fluid, while she stated bizarre words over and over. By Dinner time, I could move freely, and though I missed afternoon tea, no inexcusable act had ocurred. I thanked her and the Colonel,  and walked to the train station, aware that eyes were upon me from hidden places, and windows. All dolls are aware when they are watched, probably not as well as humans, but well enough. My mind was a dank fog of forbidden inspirations, crazy yet plausible devices, and that same black truth shone out brighter and brighter, made proof  be recent events,
"If lead can become gold,, then a doll can become, , , , anything . . . . ."
There's no place like home, but for dolls that do not have homes, The Hypnotic Shoppe suffices well!

I shall take a week off from my studies, considering a new study, one which I cannot mention to you dear Diary, or my readers- If it is indeed a crime against humankind, or the Powers that Be, or a sin against my Builder and Designer, I would not want to implicate you all.
Wish me luck, as I delve into a dark and heretofore rarely explored science- with only a few books to guide me, The Encyclopedia of Anatomy, Twirlin's Medical Journal, and The Modern Prometheus written by dear Miss Shelley,  I will take my studies of Mister Wells and Mister Verne to a place of the highest pinnacle of science and religion, of dollkind, and mankind.

If these are my last words written, with doll hand, or any sort, know that you are my loved friends,, and though love from an animated, sentient clockwork doll, might be perhaps not as divinely perfect as  human affection, a doll's love is a special love indeed.

Dolls and warrior inclinations

waiting my "dead" time at the dungeon of the tentacle demon- nice free armor!

As I lay there on the dusty boards in the dark dungeon of the tentacle demon, (No, really that's the Sim's name) and thinking how easily I keep ending up this way, it is easy to say to ones self, "Dolls are not meant to be warriors". I do like the free armor they give you here, free HUDs, etc. But looking back to the Factory and all the others being placed on shelves, I recall, Those G.I. Joes and Battlebots had really nice big guns, and I have this rusty knife , , ,

Goatswood Prim Mystery- THE PRIM THIEF IS ......

THE RUGS!
The Rustica Empire Collection rugs! To understand this mystery you need to understand a little about MESH:
Whereas a normal rug is made by taking a texture and applying to the face of a prim- which is naturally smooth, you can warp a mesh prim to make the wrinkles and gathers in your rug, in 3D.

Mesh has 2 measurements wheres as normal prims items when edited have 1- prim count. Mesh items have "Prims", and "Land effect" or "Cost" .

These two rugs say PRIMS- 1. but under land affect they say COST- 14 and COST 16!  I never thought to look at the rugs, I dilligently checked the furniture, but it never dawned on me that someone would make a 14 prim rug.. would you?

I am certain there is a fix for this- if any Blender gurus or Mesh professors are reading, please comment!

(now back to our story, already in progress)

Goatswood Mystery day 1/2- Primcount Mystery

"Diary, Just finished with the few items I managed to load into the cart, feeling a bit lonely suddenly. Perhaps when I get my desk settled and can research these old tomes of Grandfather's, I can learn what was causing his change, his obsession,  and repair this family...  perhaps."

((The Rustica Empire Mesh furniture is very pretty, with several animations and texture changes, and so is my roll top desk, and paintings which cannot be set out! I've laid out about 32 prims of items and my tier box says I have reached my maximum of 60- 59 to be exact. Why is this? How can I fix that? What does this- any advice?))

Goatswood Mystery Begins

http://goatswood.socionex.com/profile/Wendyslippers/Charisma/

"Dear Diary- Day 1

Put Away!? My mouth can scarcely say it, will never say it to these provencials. Lord Charisma has slowly been changing, the last year- his interest in Great Gradfather's collections, such strange paintings, wierd artifacts, the late night closed door rituals choked the manor home with incense- I could smell it and that pungent oil all the way to the back of the gardens!

But this?! Now to be told I am to take on a country home, 'for a while', finish writing that novel of mine,' he says. "make it a pretty home of your own". I made this one! All the parties, I planned them, My studies and Governesses have taught me the very best of talents and skills of the high society, of which I am not modest and certainly not ashamed. I can't even figure the clasp on this silly steamer trunk! Ohh, what is to become of me? Why did he do this?"

"Dear Diary, Day 3

I have had the good fortune to meet an artist named Cornelius, who showed me to a manor home with a room available. Not a summer cottage but one must start somewhere.

It is a sleepy town, with a quiet tavern, called the Roebuck, where I have had to take my meals. I understand the Manor home does serve food, but I have yet to meet the caretakers and Lady of the Manor- they keep odd hours, and there are some strange pictures on the walls, much like my Husband started collecting. though these tend to be pyramids, and his were more like tentacles."

Day 5- Diary, I did it!

I admit I boarded the train with the hope of reconciliation, but upon arrival and seeing his unkempt state, his manic obsession with the family artifacts, strange glowing drawings, and then the arrival of his bizarre though not unattractive friends, I knew my course! That evening they all went to the old sacrifice alter in our woods, I had my old nanny , and her daughter, now a pleasing maid in our employ, help me pack up everything! I do mean everything, all the bizarre artifacts and the books Great Grandfather brought back from his pilgrimages. Could it be he married me for more than just the sizable dowry- something about me that I do not know?

I must hide these things, and study them, so back to that sleepy village I go, I will need to keep low profile, and learn more of my husband and these family mysteries...

MESH ISSUE EXPOSED, LITERALLY *NSFW*

One of the many issues I come across with MESH clothing, probably the worst, is the failure to load, or extremely slow load rate for viewers. I dance with many people every night who look like this woman, who has no idea we all see her this way.
Another reason to leave MESH clothing in your wardrobe.
The fix I hear for this particular issue, is

- Advanced Menu -> Show Debug Settings ->Type in "MeshMaxConcurrent Request" ->Raise the number to 100.

I admit those bag dresses and robes and things look awesome in MESH,, and when they perfect the invisi-layers, and make it modifiable for those of us who don't want to use their shape to fit in their dress but prefer the way we have sculpted ourselves,  I will be first in line!

Till then,, there's literally millions of real pieces of clothing layer clothes, and so little Lindens, , ,

HAPPY 7th ANIVERSARY CALEDON!

7 years Real time  in Second Life  is equal to an entire Generation!  Just keeping my shoppe running for a couple years has been an all consuming concern, so I can scarcely imagine how Desmond  and the Dukes and Duchesses of Caledon have managed to keep the Independent States  growing, thriving, fun and benevolent  for 7 years! I pulled out my Utopia Champagne gown and slippers, screwed in my crystal doll key head, and fluffed my Cloak in Caledon Tartan colors. It was time to see and be seen, and pay homage to some people that really deserve it! Below, I may call people by their first name or last names only; it is due to my own doll like ignorance, not from some harbored ill will. I simply cannot recall at this time the rest of their name! It is clear, I was not created for my intelligence and memory. More credit to those present, because though they are all owners of entire Sims,  producers and builders of products bought throughout the Sluniverse, corporate heads and owners of companies, they prefer to be known as simply, Gabrielle, Dimmy, or Des.

Gaelen, Phrynne and Vivito kick their heels to a lively tune played by the night's DJ,Lucien

Are Aevalle and Wrath not the picture perfect couple? His pirate ship hovered over the building  all night, and though I would prefer it was the RCAF, I cannot deny that not even a cracked clockwork doll would think it wise to run the guns out against The Bewm Bunneh.

Gloriana and Rahp; Men in uniforms, women in silk lace and petticoats- Who would not love Caledon?

Duchess Jayle and Michael, Lord Macbeth. Dancing alone, together. Both need a special someone. . . . . *hint to any interested  out there*

DJ His Grace Sir Lucien plays and his lovely Tehanu keep the rythm, as does Macbeth and Jayle. Far left, Nyree Rain gets a night off of DJing and gets to enjoy the festivities! Note the caledon Tartan colors present.

Ravisher and Zahra- are they not a perfect picture?

Shauri, Minerva, Callidus, Wood Burner and Ravelli. All the nobility came out  in their finery!

Samm stayed up past bedtime, while Zenmondo and I shook out our Tartan colors. Excalibur and Kirawill stood watching  in pleasant conversation. One thing you can nearly always count on , in caledon, eclectic and intelligent conversation!

Angelic wings and dastardly pirate eye patches, clockwork spinning cogs and Victorian finery. What a glorious evening!

As the lights went down, a chill in the air through the windows made it nice to have a thick wool cloak, and arms around you.

But,

It just would not have been a perfect evening without:

THE GUVNAH!

Desmond showed up and never asked how we managed to break into the guvnah's mansion to have this soiree, he jumped into a "Samm-like" jig, jovial and uplifting, professorial and fun like always!

Is it any wonder  how, with such loving, caring, dedicated people, Caledon could last so long? And is it any wonder that it will continue another 7 more, with such wonderful beings making it so?
